TO: All IV-D Agents and Staff CSM No. 117 Child Support Enforcement Staff

FROM: Steven P. Veno Deputy Commissioner

DATE: March 30, 2009

SUBJECT: TALX/Work Number Pilot Project

Child Support Enforcement (CSE) and the Division of Family Support have entered into a joint agreement with TALX, to pilot an express on-line service of The Work Number for three months, beginning April 1, 2009. Designated staff in each office will have the ability to submit their requests and receive the results back immediately, by accessing The Work Number web portal. The Work Number has access to employment information for approximately 30% of the workforce.

As the Work Number express on-line service is not free, designated staff should only request verification from the Work Number if information cannot be found using other resources (i.e., KY-IMS, Program 48, Wage Records). Information obtained using the on-line service will include an employment history, that may contain multiple employment records. CSE will be charged for each employment record that is accessed. Users should only access “active” records from the history to obtain current employment information. To minimize the ongoing cost to CSE, it is important for this service to be utilized appropriately. Once staff have become familiar with the information available, a short survey will be provided. The survey information and usage reports will be used by CSE to determine the financial feasibility of an on-going contract with TALX for continued access to The Work Number express on-line service.

Training for designated staff on the Work Number is web based through TRIS. The training is audio/visual based and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Please review this training material in order to familiarize yourself with the service. Your local Field Management office will be your first line contact for training and questions related to The Work Number express on-line service, and if necessary, those persons will contact the Central Office contact person for assistance. Provided below is a training link for The Work Number. http://www.training.eku.edu/theworknumberWBT/

At the end of the training, staff have the opportunity to print any of the training materials and other related resources. All users will be awarded training credit (.50) on TRIS.
