SUBJECT: T3 Regional Conference - Wilmington, DE

Delaware will host a Teachers Teaching with Technology ™ (T3) Regional Conference on October 10-11, 2008, at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown Wilmington. The conference will offer over 92 sessions on mathematics and technology for teachers of grades 3-13, plus three all-day institutes. Many nationally known speakers will be presenting including T3 National Instructor Tom Reardon whose focus will be integrating technology with the SMART Board, and textbook author Daren Starnes who will share his expertise in statistics on TI’s latest handheld, TI-Nspire. Two special features of the conference will be a Jump Start session Friday morning for graphing calculator novices and the TI Coaching Corner staffed by TI experts who can help teachers with their technology problems.

For elementary teachers in grades 3-5, the conference will offer a full day institute on Friday, Using TI Technology to Promote Critical Thinking in Elementary Classrooms, and selected sessions on Saturday. The elementary sessions on Saturday will focus on using the TI-10 and TI-15 calculators, dynamic data exploration software and even Geometer’s Sketchpad in the elementary classroom. Enclosed please find a special Elementary Program information sheet detailing opportunities for your teachers.

For middle and high school teachers, there are individual sessions both Friday and Saturday on pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, integrated mathematics, problem solving, trigonometry, statistics, precalculus, and calculus – all aimed at helping teachers make effective use of technology in their teaching. Calculators represented will be the TI-73, TI- 83/84+, TI-89, TI-92+, Voyage 200, TI-Nspire, and TI-Nspire CAS. Computer software will include TI-Nspire, Sketchpad, Fathom, Geometry Expressions and SketchUp. Many sessions will also include SMART Board instruction. Alternately, middle and high school teachers can choose to attend a full day institute on Friday, Algebra I T3 Institute, or a full day institute on Saturday, TI-Nspire Algebra T3 Institute.

The full listing of conference sessions is available online at http://www.dctm.k12.de.us/t3.html and is included with this mailing.

Registration is $130 for the full two-day conference including four meals, or $85 for a one-day registration that includes two meals. There is no additional fee for the institutes but pre-registration is required. All institutes are limited to 30 participants. Hotel rooms are available at $90 (plus taxes) per night. Parking is available in a city lot for an additional fee.

Please share this information with your teachers and encourage their participation.
