Introduction for Mantrams 130-132
The preparations for conducting the AaruNa kEtuka ChAyaNam by an adhikAri is covered in this anuvAkam. These vratams and anuhtAnams should be conducted for a whole year with strict restrictions based on AchAram and anushtAnams. If one can not observe this preparatory vratam for a whole year, he should observe it for atleast two months. Some homa mantrams to be used during this vratam are idnetified. In the next two mantrams (131 and 132) , the details for conductance of the vratam and the specific homa mantrams for the observance are covered. In the final 132nd mantram of this 32nd anuvAkam, the Phalans for performing this ChAyaNam by an adhikAri in close cooperation with his AchAryan are summarized. The final anuvAkam ends with the Saanti PaaDam of " Bhadram KarNEbhi: SruNAyAma: ".

Kaanchipuram hill where the Lord VaradarAjan appeared at the end of BrahmA's Yajn~am from the agni kuNDam is known as Atthi giri possibly because of the abundance of Atthi (Oudhumaraa) trees on that hillock. Besides its twigs, the wood from the Atthi tree is used for making the ladle for the PoorNAhUti/ VasOrdhAra (final) stage of the Yajn~ams. The ancient archA Murthy at Kaanchipuram VaradarAjaa Temple is made of Oudhumbhara wood and today He is resting under the PushkaraNi water and this Yajn~a Moorthy is taken out for worship every fourty years. Such is the sacredness of Oudhumbari wood. udhdruta paripootAbhi:adhbhi: kAryam kurveeta=All duties should be performed with filtered water. One can surmise that no ahimsai to water residing animals is intended thru this procedure.

Such a person (saatvIka Tapasvee) practises three fold austerity (tapas); with the body, speech and mind (GitA Chapter 17.17).
The sareera tapas is practised thru the worship of the gods, the Brahmins, the AchryAs, the BhAgavatAs and by observing purity of body (AchAram), uprightness, control over IndhriyAs and ahimsA.
The Vaangmaya tapas (verbal austerity) involves study of scriptural texts and avoidance of words that do not hurt other's feelings as well as using words that are pleasing and benovolent.
The Maanasa tapas is practised thru absence of anger (krOdhAdhirahitatvam), practise of benovolence (soumyatvam), the use of mental capabilities for the benefit of others (parEshAm abhyudhaya prAvaNyam) and mounam (the control of speech by the mind) as well as focusing the mind on Para Brahmam.
