POST TITLE: Gymnastics Instructor

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Operations Mangers

DATE AGREED: May 2012

DETAILS OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Tasks

1. To assist and lead in the development and delivery of the BPL’s Gymnastics and Trampoline program throughout all BPL sites.

2. To act as the lead person in the implementation of gymnastics and trampoline classes designed for young children maintaining safety, comfort and well being of the customers. This includes supervision of all class participants and the administration of any emergency and first aid as required.

3. Responsible for preparing and dismantling sports equipment in line with operational and events requirements.

4. Responsible for carrying out safety checks of sports equipment throughout the facility and ensuring all equipment is charged and ready for use for the next session, which may include transportation.

5. Responsible for first aid matters as they arise.

7. To undertake any additional training as required.

8. To participate in any statutory staff training sessions as designated by BPL and Assistant Operations Managers.

9. Be highly motivated, enthusiastic and coordinated in the running of each individual session

10. Have bright, new ideas and initiatives on how programmes can develop and progress. PERSON SPECIFICATION

Post Title: Gymnastics / Trampoline Instructor Criteria Essential Desirable Skills Able to offer a high level of customer care to a wide range of  Knowledge customers Abilities Verbal communication skills; ability to put people at ease and deal  with queries effectively

Ability to work flexibly on a range of duties and take the initiative 

Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment 

Can understand and adhere to standard procedures if required 

Coaching Skills & patience as well as understanding of individual  needs.

Experience Experience of working with members of the public 

Experience of working with the leisure environment  Qualifications Level 2 BAGA Gymnastics Qualification or working towards this  Training level of qualification.

UKCC Level 2 Trampoline Qualification or working towards this level of qualification. 

Relevant first aid qualification.  Other Interest in sports and recreation issues and the development of  quality service

Level of physical capability required to set up and move equipment etc. 

Information to Candidates on Employment Terms and Conditions

The following details outlining some of the main Terms and Conditions of Employment are for information only. They do not constitute a contractual agreement. A full Contract of Employment will be issued to the successful applicant on appointment.

1. Working Hours

The normal hours of work will be “as and when required” hours per week to be worked to suit the needs of the service which may include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

2. Holidays

There are 20 days annual leave from 1 April to 31 March each year plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Staff appointed part way through a holiday year will receive a proportionate entitlement.

3. Salary

The rate of pay will be up to £14.42 per hour.

4. Pension

There is eligibility to join the BPL Friends Life Pension Scheme.

5. Probationary Period

All new appointments are subject to a probationary period of 6 months during which time suitability for the position appointed will be assessed.

6. Notice Period

The notice period that will operate on both sides to terminate the Contract will be one month or, on the employer side, one week for every year of service (to a maximum of 12 weeks) if this is greater.

7. Appointment

Appointments made are subject to satisfactory to the employer of a health clearance, two references and a CRB check.
