The Ottoman Empire: The “Sick Man” of Europe
Draw a picture of how you imagine the “Sick Man” of Europe (AKA the dying Ottoman Empire).
Try to address all of the following questions in your picture. How sick is the “sick man”? What made him “sick”? What is the “sickness”? What was the result of his sickness? What happened to him because of it?
Consider these pieces of advice as you draw. The “sick man” does not have to be a human person. For example, the “sick man” could be a country, an inanimate object, or a symbol. Include symbols and/or pictures to represent symptoms, or signs, of the “sick man”. You could draw 1 big portrait or a short 4 box cartoon strip (use the PowerPoint as a guide). You can use labeling (words) to make your symbols clearer to the reader.
