OFSTED
Thank you to all parents who quickly filled out their “Parent View” online. 100% of you said you would recommend our school and the Inspector stated that she had never seen this before in all her 20 years of inspecting. Thank you – it really is appreciated. The report takes several weeks to come through and we will send it out when it is received.
Red Nose Day
As you will know, tomorrow we shall be fundraising for Red Nose Day and we invite children to come to school dressed in red clothing in exchange for a donation of £1.
We would be very grateful for buns, cakes etc to sell which can be brought to the school office tomorrow morning. These will be on sale from 30p – 50p together with juice for 20p.
Children can have their nails painted for 30p, pin the red nose on Mrs Womersley for 20p, tell a joke for 10p or take part in the children vs staff football match for 50p. There will be a talent show during the afternoon with a 50p entry fee per person– please give your name, act and fee to the Student Council members in Year 6.
Book Fair
Thank you to those families who have supported our Book Fair which has been running for the last 2 evenings after school. We will be selling books etc again tonight and on Monday night, but not tomorrow due to our Lego and Multisports clubs.

Parents` Evenings
This term`s parents` evenings will run on Wednesday and Thursday 5th and 6th April and all children have been given a letter giving details. Please return the reply slips this week via the office post box (not teachers please), or by Monday morning latest to enable office staff to make the appointments. Foundation Stage Parent Assembly
Miss Nelson`s class gave a wonderful parent assembly last Friday morning when they showed their audience what they had learned about the jungle through singing, dancing and speaking. Thank you very much to those parents who joined us, and to FS staff who have worked so hard to get the children to perform so confidently.
Sportsdesk
Our handball team competed wonderfully at Horbury last Thursday evening, coming joint 3rd. They showed a great team spirit and we are very proud of them – George Godley, Grace Quinn, Sophie Fisher, Nya Morgan, Hayden Rook, Myla O`Neill, Michael Welling, Rose Guilford-Collis, Zara Degnan and Johnthomas Burnside.
Glee Club
Our “Glee Club” will be taking part in the Mothers` Day service at the Church in West Bretton on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. They always give a wonderful performance so please come along to support them.
As Mrs Grindle has already asked, please have participating children at Church for 10.20 a.m. – school uniform is not necessary. Thank you again to those parents who are supporting this event.
Wine Tasting Evening
As you will know, tomorrow evening is the FOBS wine tasting evening at YSP and it promises to be a lot of fun! Mrs Costello has sourced some excellent raffle prizes including a meal for 4 at Kingfisher Restaurant, a family pass to the Kirklees Light Railway and the same for Cannon Hall Farm. Tickets cost £1 each so if you are unable to be at the wine tasting, but would like to support FOBS by buying raffle tickets please see Mrs Costello in the Foundation Stage classroom.
Cadbury World
Years 5 and 6 had an absolutely wonderful day yesterday at Cadbury World in Birmingham, despite the long journey. They had a packed day which included a 4D theatre adventure and a car journey through the Cadabra village. They saw the making of chocolate story and went through the Amazon rainforest during a Mayan workshop. Wilf Stokes and Frances Cocker were very impressive dressed as Mayans! The visit would not be complete of course without the tasting of liquid chocolate and the free chocolate bars which were supplied!
And finally ………….
Further to the note in last week`s newsletter, if any children from year 3 upwards are interested in beginners piano lessons in school run by Wakefield Music Service please put a note with details in the office post box. The cost is £62 per term. Thank you to those parents who have responded – we shall be in touch later.
Our after school clubs have their last sessions for this term next week.
