Conference to Explore Wise Persons’ Committee Research

January 19, 2004 (Toronto, ON) — The University of Toronto’s Capital Markets Institute (CMI) is bringing together researchers who prepared key studies for the Wise Persons’ Committee to Review the Structure of Securities Regulation in Canada (WPC). The researchers will present their findings and comment on the WPC’s report recommendations at a full-day conference on January 30, 2004. Media are invited to attend.

The conference will conclude with a panel discussion featuring authors of the constitutional opinions published with the WPC report.

The Wise Persons’ Committee released “It’s Time” on December 17, 2003, calling for the creation of a single regulator built on a joint federal-provincial model.
