NWSA 2009 Resource Review

Resources available by NWSA Members

The National Wildfire Suppression Association represents over 250 professional private fire service contractors in 17 states. They provide a vast variety of resources to the agencies to assist not only in Wildland fire suppression, but fuels reduction, and a variety of emergency services.

The following report shows the number of resources available by NWSA member companies. These resources are currently under contract and/or agreements with a variety of agencies. Most of them work under the new National Template agreements put out by the interagency working team at NIFC.

These resources are trained for fire according to the 310-1 and several regions exceed those guidelines. They follow the same guidelines that the agencies use in training and safety.

Most of the resources are available for national dispatch on a year round basis to respond as needed to assist on an assignment.
