A. In the Tour de France, cyclists use 29 inch diameter tires. How many rotations would it take for the cyclist to travel 1 miles? (1mi = 63360 inches)

B. Top Fuel Drag Racing cars have two sets of wheels. The front wheels have a diameter of 17 inches and the rear wheels have a 36 inch diameter. The track it runs on is 1000 ft (12,000 inches). How many rotations will the front tire make and how many rotations will the rear wheels make?

C. A Hot Wheels car tire makes 70.65 rotations while rolling across a 60 inch table. What is the circumference and diameter of a Hot Wheels tire in inches?

D. A Pingles cannister falls off a table and onto the floor where it begins to roll. If it has a three inch diameter and makes 25 rotations, how far did it roll?

Short Response: For the following question, read the scenario and explain why the student’s conclusion is wrong by stating where they made an error in calculation. Then, with the information provided, provide the correct answer.

Gary takes a quarter out of his pocket, that has a diameter of 2.4 centimeters, and successfully rolls it on a table. He marks where it started and where it came to rest. He then mesures the distance with a meter stick and sees that the quarter rolled 72 cm. He takes out his calculator and proudly declares, “This quarter made 30 rotations”. Gary then sits down in his chair and smuggly smiles. What did Gary do wrong and what is the correct number of rotations the quarter made?
