The CNRS-Toulouse III University, “Unité Différenciation Epidermique et Autoimmunité Rhumatoïde” (UMR 5165) would like to host an ATIP team from 2009. Beyond access to all the shared laboratories, in house facilities and services available in a very recently fully refurbished and reequiped building of 1700 m² (cell culture, production of recombinant proteins, immunological techniques, analytical protein biochemistry, DNA sequencing and analysis, quantitative RT-PCR, fluorescence microscopy, bioinformatics, …), several state-of- the-art platforms including cytometry, cellular imaging (confocal and 2-photon microscopes), lipidomics, mass spectrometry and animal facilities, are also accessible in the close vicinity (http://www.ifr30.toulouse.fr). Offices will also be made available for the new team in this well-equiped and stimulating scientific environment.
The main topics presently developed in the unit are: 1) The characterization of the last steps of terminal epidermis differentiation, and analysis of the molecular events involved in the epidermis barrier functions, both at the transcriptomic and proteomic levels. 2) The diagnostic, pathophysiological and therapeutic implications of the autoimmunity to citrullinated proteins associated to rheumatoid arthritis.
The unit wishes preferentially to extend its expertise in these topics but all scientifically sound projects will be considered.
Our researches are developed in collaboration with the Departments of Dermatology and Rheumatology in Toulouse Hospitals, and with a large international scientific and medical network. We are also collaborating with big Companies including Pierre Fabre Laboratories, Chanel and bioMérieux and we have a good experience in technological transfer and valorization.
The unit which comprises 41 persons including 11 senior scientists (5 CR, 2 MCU-PH and 4 PU-PH from CNRS, INSERM, CHU and University of Toulouse) is an essential component of the IFR30-31.
Altogether, this makes the UMR 5165 a highly attractive environment for developing top research in cutaneous biology and dermatology or in immunopathology and rheumatology.
