Green County Chapter of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association

2012-2013 Local New Glarus High School Scholarship Application

Hello Senior!

Completion of this application makes you eligible for the majority of the local scholarships; however special applications are necessary for the following:

 Green County Chapter of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association

 FFA Alumni

 Lions Club

 Monroe Clinic Volunteers in Partnership

 Monroe St. Vincent de Paul

 New Glarus Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10549

 Schardt Orthodontics Scholarship

These special applications are attached.

Please read the following directions very carefully. Failure to do so may result in not being considered for a scholarship by the committees.

1. Fill out the Local Scholarship Application entirely.

2. One copy of the application must be submitted for each of the scholarships that you apply for.

3. A separate cover letter to each scholarship committee should accompany your application. For example, if you apply for five scholarships, you should write five separate letters. You can have a general template that details your extracurricular accomplishments and community involvement; however, tailor each letter to the specific scholarship that you are applying for. Also, please do not address any letter with “to whom it may concern” as scholarship committees are very offended by this!

4. Attach a résumé – not all scholarships require this but the more quality information a committee has about you, the better they can get to know who you are. Really try to sell yourself! Help them understand why they should consider funding some of your education.

5. Make a list of all of the different scholarships that you are applying for on an attached sheet and hand in to me. Handwritten is fine—this is just for me. 6. Criteria for these scholarships vary and are determined by the donor. Please note that there are specific requirements for each scholarship before completing the application. All scholarships require that you go on to school this coming fall!

7. All local scholarship applications and letters must be returned to Mrs. Meoska by March 1st – no exceptions. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Use the checklist that I have provided to make sure you have included all of the necessary information!

Important to Note: Most scholarships are paid upon proof of successful completion of first semester and registration for second semester for post-secondary schooling.
