Title: Information System Technician 2 Department: Information Systems
Summary/Objective The Technician 2 performs a range of duties related to Hospital, departmental and user issues/needs. The Technician 2 typically gathers information (usually related to a computer, software and/or system problem), analyzes the concern, troubleshoots, then develops and implements solutions to problems. The Technician assists with, or develops and implements, new hardware, software, systems and/or other projects.
Essential Functions Troubleshoot unknown/undetermined computer, hardware, software and/or systems issues Troubleshoot common problems with an end-user Diagnose computer, software and/or systems issues root causes, solutions and potential work arounds or alternatives Identify impact of particular problem/incident and escalate to other departmental employees or managers where indicated Fix and/or educate the user regarding known or established solutions Document time, steps taken and outcome Escalate any unresolved issues to appropriate next level of support Recommend changes regarding common concerns, service level agreements and ticket system general use Advise and/or recommend productivity improvements, automation opportunities, major ongoing problems and risk mitigation Maintain computing environment by monitoring software licenses and installing upgrades Establish and maintain network performance by building net configurations and connections; troubleshoot network problems
Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other closely related technology field OR CompTIA A+ Certification At least 6 months experience working in a hospital environment in a technical-technology capacity OR in an IS Department with Help Desk experience
