It is our great pleaseue to invite you to attend the 3rd International Conference on Biobased Polymers (ICBP2011), which will be held in Beijing, China from October 18 (Tuesday) to 21 (Friday), 2011. The 1st ICBP conference and the 2nd ICBP conference have been successfully held in November 2003 at RIKEN, Wako, Japan 2003 and in November 2009 at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia, successively. The up-coming 3rd ICBP conference (ICBP2011) will be held in the campus of Peking University and will be co-organized by Prof. Zhihua Gan from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS), Prof. Zichen Li from Peking University, Prof. Hideki Abe from RIKEN and Prof. Tadahisa Iwata from University of Tokyo.

The ICBP2011 focuses on the bio-based and bio-related polymers in the aspects of (1) biosynthesis and chemosynthesis, (2) structure and functionalization, and (3) biomedical and environmental applications. This conference will provide a good opportunity to discuss the recent progress and future perspectives on bio-based polymers. We hope that the ICBP2011 will follow the theme of the series ICBP conferences to gather the scientists and young students with various backgrounds such as polymer science and microbiology and form a close network for the future collaboration.
