JACQUELINE LANDIS HAYMOND 12 FOR HER MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND 13 REMARKABLE APPROACH TO LIFE AND TO 14 CONGRATULATE HER ON HER REIGN AS MS. SOUTH 15 CAROLINA SENIOR 2001. 16 17 Whereas, Jacqueline Landis Haymond was recognized for her 18 talent, beauty, and positive outlook on life at the age of sixty-eight 19 as she was crowned Ms. South Carolina Senior 2001 on March 4, 20 2001; and 21 22 Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond has had a distinguished career as a 23 university professor and is now a personal coach and motivational 24 speaker who encourages others to find happiness by developing a 25 personal plan that involves “choosing new pathways” to a better 26 life; and 27 28 Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond was born in Ninety-Six and 29 graduated from Greenwood High School. She attended the 30 University of South Carolina and the University of New Mexico 31 and earned her bachelor of science degree in business education at 32 Erskine College. When she was forty-five, Jacqueline Haymond 33 received her master’s degree and at age fifty-two earned her Ph.D. 34 in forest resources from Clemson University; and 35 36 Whereas, Mrs. Haymond did extensive work and research while at 37 Clemson; she directed graduate students, taught public relations 38 and communications classes, published more than fifty articles, 39 and made more than ninety presentations to audiences of all ages; 40 and 41

1 [4812] 1 1 Whereas, the Ms. South Carolina Senior Pageant is the first state 2 pageant to recognize women age sixty and older and is a search for 3 the woman who, with her dignity, maturity, and inner beauty, best 4 represents the women of South Carolina; the pageant was held at 5 Winthrop University in Rock Hill; and 6 7 Whereas, the pageant contestants take part in an interview session, 8 a talent competition, and an evening gown competition; a panel of 9 certified judges select the winner who competes for the title of 10 2002 American Classic Woman Queen; and 11 12 Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond continues to live an extraordinary 13 life full of adventure, excitement, and hard work, and she is 14 inspiring people of all ages to live with the same flare. Now, 15 therefore, 16 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 18 19 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 20 by this resolution, commend Mrs. Jacqueline Landis Haymond for 21 her many accomplishments and remarkable approach to life and 22 congratulate her on her reign as Ms. South Carolina Senior 2001. 23 24 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 25 Mrs. Jacqueline Haymond of the Epworth Community. 26 ----XX----
