Statement of Reasons

A431 BATH ROAD, BITTON Proposed improvements for Bitton School Bus Stops

Background Funding has been secured through the Better Bus Area Fund to deliver improvements for bus services. The A431 has been identified as one of the key areas to be upgraded within South Gloucestershire. The aim of the scheme is to upgrade the A431 to the standard of other Greater Bristol Bus Network ‘Showcase’ routes.

The proposals have been included in the Council’s 2012/13 Capital Programme.

Purpose of Scheme These stops do not have raised access boarders or stop markings; the proposed changes aim to address these issues.

Proposed Scheme The scheme consists of installing bus access kerbs and bus stop road markings at the existing stops.

Drawing Reference Details are shown on Plan Number T001-281-54A.

Timescale Subject to consultation the scheme is programmed to be designed and built in early 2013.
