1. An increasing number of for-free and for-fee websites are making the 1841 to 1901 English census returns available. For-fee sites usually include actual images. Examples are http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/news.htm, http://www.ancestry.com, and http://www.findmypast.com/home.jsp 2. For-free websites usually offer transcriptions. Examples include many county projects, freeCen.com, http://www.familysearch.org (1881 only), and hopefully the Church indexing project. 3. The 1901 census is at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/. The index is free; the images are $10 for 8 images (must use in 7 days). (Also gives images of BMD index pages (50 images)). 4. One of these additional sites is http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl. This is incomplete and it is hard to get much valuable help from this site. 5. City and town directories can be found at: http://www.historicaldirectories.org/ 6. The documents on line can be found at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/. This site has a vast amount of information including census, wills, BMD, and more – a very rich government sponsored site. 7. Another site has legal documents for many counties: http://www.a2a.org.uk/. The WWI and WWII commonwealth graves are at: http://www.cwgc.org The cadillac website for British family history is: www.genuki.co.uk 8.
