To Clubs competing in the Time Trial of the 41st Dublin Sculling Ladder: Attached the final confirmed results. Once again many thanks to GSBC for hosting the event. Congratulations on a great day's racing on Saturday, and many thanks for the support. It was a great entry.

The 10th Millennium Sculling Challenges (Belfast vs. Cork vs. Dublin) are due to be hosted by Cork in 2008, probably in early September; this will involve the Overall Winner and the Fastest Woman of the DSL when the Ladder concludes at the end of March 2007. The Time Trial is just the start of the new Ladder. It now proceeds with Challenge Races: Scullers above 40th position on the Ladder may challenge any of the three scullers above them ; Scullers 40th and lower may challenge 6 above; scullers 100th and below may challenge up to ten places above them Every sculler is entitled to one Free Challenge per season All Challenge Races must be umpired and timed, and a report completed. Having an umpire is essential, to liaise with other users of the river, to ensure safety and to keep an accurate record of results. Report forms are available from me, or from the Dublin Municipal Rowing Centre. Completed Reports should be returned to the DMRC. There were a few challenge races last year, but the system is still there and the Overall Head of the Ladder and the Overall Fastest Women of the forty-second Ladder will not be decided until the last Saturday in March 2008. During October only bracketed (marked =) scullers on the list above are treated as though on the same rung for challenging and being challenged — although all intermediate rungs count for those challenging past bracketed scullers. From November the brackets are removed, and the scullers will be in the order as printed, unless changes have happened in the meantime. Statistics from this Time Trial: Eighth time to break 100 finishers, and the third biggest entry to date. The most women sculling ever, Caroline Ryan won in the best time to date, and finished higher than any other women has previously finished: the first woman in the Top Ten. Sean Jacob raced the two fastest times of the day. A beautiful day's racing. Section 1 at 10 am was the fastest of the day.

Anyone wanting copies of double runs may contact me or Micheal Johnston by e-mail. 14.10.07 Ciaran Lewis Secretary, DSL
