TOWN HALL MEETING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Is your village, town, or city prepared for the next tornado, super storm, or long-term disruption of our power sources? Is the U.S. prepared for an attack of our nation’s power grid?

There has been much attention given since 9/11 to a wide variety of threats to our nation … additional attacks, biological, chemical, or so-called “dirty bombs,” or even an actual nuclear detonation in the center of one of our major cities.

But few have talked about, let alone heard about, the terrible, overwhelming threat of EMP, which is shorthand for “Electromagnetic Pulse,” a result of a weapon, force of nature (lightning or solar burst) or man-made occurrence.

Area town and city response personnel, and interested citizens, are encouraged to attend a Town Meeting with our own Dr. Todd Wiley’s presentation of “Emergency Preparedness.” Following his presentation, there will be an opportunity for questions you might have for Dr. Wiley, or any of your local emergency response personnel in attendance.

Born in rural Northeastern Ohio, Dr. Todd Wiley had a passion for sustainable agriculture and wilderness survival from an early age. He received his Eagle Scout award at age 13, and participated in many wilderness experiences with Boy Scouts of America. His degree in Animal Science from Ohio State University, as well as his degree from University of South Carolina School of Medicine and experience in rural medical health, fuels this passion for sustainable farming and preparedness. Dr. Wiley has researched preparedness scenarios and techniques for many years, and has implemented many of the things he’s learned over the years in his own farm and life.

You are encouraged to attend this very informational meeting, sponsored by the Knight’s of Columbus Council 10043, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church gymnasium, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville, OH, on Thursday, September 19, 2013. For more information, contact Terry Brown, 419-542-6789
