WASECA PUBLIC SCHOOLS WASECA, MINNESOTA

The School Board of Independent School District No. 829 held a regular meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2013 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Central Building Conference Room. Board members present: Randy Zimmerman, Matt Johansen, Jeff Hoelmer, Ski Ann Christiansen, Cathy Hoy, and Todd Zimmerman. Board member absent: Kimberly Meirose. Also in attendance: Brian Dietz, Superintendent of Schools and Elizabeth Beery, Director of Business Services.

1. Johansen moved, T. Zimmerman seconded a motion to approve the minutes from the regular meetings of May 16, 2013 and June 6, 2013. Unanimous.

2. Johansen moved, T. Zimmerman seconded a motion to approve the agenda with additions as presented. Unanimous.

3. T. Zimmerman moved, Hoelmer seconded a motion to approve the Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular Scheduling Agreement. 5 aye, 1 nay (Johansen). Motion carries.

4. Hoelmer moved, and T. Zimmerman seconded a motion to approve the claims for the month of May as follows: Accounts Payable - $1,349,713.36; Payroll - $602,305.23.

5. Elizabeth Beery presented the financial report.

6. Brian Dietz gave his final Superintendent’s report.

7. T. Zimmerman moved, Christiansen seconded a motion to approve Policy 807 – Health and Safety Policy with proposed budget. Unanimous.

Hoy moved, Johansen seconded a motion to approve Gifts & Donations with additions as presented: Donation of $253.44 from the American Legion Burger Fry for the WHS Choir; Donation of $700.00 from the Junior & Senior High School PTO; Donation of $426.00 from the W.H. & Estelle Rethwill fund, Waseca Area Foundation, to purchase iPad mini’s for Hartley; Donation of $652.00 from the Waseca Area Foundation Endowment fund to purchase iPad mini’s for Hartley; Donation of $896.00 from the Gedosch- Fell Memorial Fund, Waseca Area Foundation, to purchase iPad mini’s for Hartley; Donation of $11,460 from Paul & Sue Rosenau, Legacy of Angels Fund, to aid Hartley in funding the accelerated math subscription, IXL K-6 web-based math subscription, Voice – Social Skill curriculum, and visits to the MN Science Museum and the MN Zoo; Donation of $3,500.00 from the Waseca Area Foundation for library software. 10. T. Zimmerman moved, Hoelmer seconded a motion to approve the disposal of out-dated textbooks that were

deemed to no longer have value. Unanimous.

11. T. Zimmerman moved, Hoy seconded a motion to approve collateral reports as presented. Unanimous.

12. Johansen moved, Hoy seconded a motion to approve EMC as the workers compensation insurance carrier for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Unanimous.

13. Christiansen moved, Hoy seconded a motion to approve EMC as the property and casualty insurance carrier for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Unanimous.

14. T.
