Vocabulary Word: Week of 8/27 Definition
Strive To Try Very Hard
Young Families,
Please welcome Mrs. Penny Miller ( a retired Young 2nd grade teacher) as our greeter. We are happy to have Mrs. Miller working with us again. Mrs. Miller will be at the greeter’s desk each day to help answer parent questions, direct parents to the correct Young staff member, and assist parents with the appropriate procedures for forgotten lunches and other school items.
Our first two days have gone by quickly. Thank you for your support in helping our school year get off to a good start. Thank you for a great two days of school! We look forward to seeing students back on Monday.
Sincerely, Ms. Morgan
Hot Weather Procedures In the event of extremely hot weather, we make every effort to make each child comfortable and maximize learning opportunities. Frequent drink breaks are provided. Classroom fans are available. We also provide cooling off periods after recess and physical education and other times as needed. Students are permitted to bring water bottles for classroom use. All school personnel are cautioned about the dangers of heat and are aware of recommendations for preventing heat stress.
PE Excusal Notes Please make sure that notes regarding medical excusals from PE or Recess are addressed to the Classroom Teacher and the Nurse.

Parent Visitors All visitors, including parents, are required by state law to report to the office upon entering the building. Everyone must sign in and out. Each visitor will be issued a visitor’s tag to wear while in the building. During the school day, all doors are locked, and a buzzer system is utilized for building entry. All persons are required to make prior arrangements before visiting a teacher and/or classroom.
Late Student Arrival Students arriving after the tardy bell (9:05) should enter the building through the main entrance and report to the office for a classroom pass. Parents must accompany students into the building if they arrive after the tardy bell has rung. Students arriving after 9:05 a.m. will be marked tardy. Students arriving after 10:30 a.m. and before 12:00 are marked as present for half a day.

Arrival-Dismissal Reminders Please review the following reminders to help our children arrive and depart from school in a safe manner.
1. Please support the law - Cell phones are not to be used in the school zone. Please refrain from using your cell phone in the pick-up/drop-off line. DIVE Into Learning

2. Please pull your car all the way forward before stopping to let your child out. We will utilize the entire semi- circle, loading it with vehicles, exiting students, then allowing cars to leave. Pull out only if directed by a staff member.
3. The drop off lane is a "Kiss and Ride". This means the students exit the car on the sidewalk side and the parents need to stay in their car. When a parent gets out of a car to open a door, it slows down the entire process. When a student exits on the opposite side of the sidewalk, it creates an unsafe situation. Students need to be dressed for the weather, and ready to exit the vehicle.
4. Please follow staff directions. Our staff are working very hard to ensure that Young children are arriving and departing from school in the safest manner possible.
5. Please keep everyone safe by not backing into the circle drive from the wrong direction.
