Role Description

Role Title: Community Champion (volunteer)

Department: Community Corporate Events team

Reporting to: Community or Corporate Fundraiser

Location: Head Office, Gleider House and within your community

Why am I needed?

To represent Tenovus within your local community and thereby help generate funds and awareness for the charity within your area.

What will I be doing?

Your main duties will involve, but not be limited to:

Giving talks about the charity to local schools, businesses, clubs and associations

Attending cheque presentations on behalf of the charity

Promoting Tenovus events by distributing posters, leaflets and displays about our work throughout your community

Supporting fundraising staff, fundraising events and local fundraising groups in their work

What skills do I need?

This role would suit a proactive person with a good knowledge of their local community

An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus is essential for this role

Good communication skills are needed as you will be involved in giving talks and speaking to members of the public Influencing and persuading skills are also key as you will be encouraging new organisations and individuals to support Tenovus

The ability to drive and use of your own vehicle would be advantageous as you will be out an about attending events and delivering display materials.

How much time do I need to commit?

Ideally you will be able to commit to giving a minimum of two days a month to the charity over a period of twelve months. However, there may be opportunities for you to give more or less time than this – please note on your application how much time you can give.

What support and training will I be given?

A dedicated member of staff in your area will be on hand to offer you advice and guide you in your work. You will be given training and materials to help you give talks in your local area.
