Description of Course/Course Objectives: This course covers a variety of business topics. Students learn basic facts about: forms of business organization, consumerism, recordkeeping, investments, budgeting, marketing, international business, and business ethics. Students research different careers based on their strengths/weaknesses. In a team of two, students create a catalog company using all applications in MS Office. As a final project, students develop a mini-plan for starting a business.

Experts (guest speakers) may come in and talk with the class in various areas such as franchising, consumerism, investments, marketing, and careers. Textbooks: None. All projects are hands-on.

Policies and Due Dates: All projects are to be done during the 90 minute class block. Some projects will require more than one class period to complete. Due dates are somewhat flexible based on the computer abilities of each student; however, if projects are not completed within a reasonable amount of time, points will be deducted for lateness. Grade Calculation: All projects/activities are worth a certain amount of points. At the end of the marking period, the grade is obtained by dividing the total number of points received by the total possible points.
