The Miss Hurricane Pageant is a pageant for all students enrolled or eligible to be enrolled in Jonesboro Public Schools. All proceeds will be used for philanthropic, FBLA and Thespian purposes.
The pageant will be held in the Jonesboro Center for Performing Arts, Friday, December 2, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Rehearsal will be Wednesday, November 30th beginning at 4 pm in the Jonesboro Center for Performing Arts. This competition qualifies the top contestants from each age division (in compliance with the categories) to compete in the Miss NEA pageant. If one of the top contestants cannot attend, another contestant from the pageant may take her place. Information will be given to the eligible participants for the Miss NEA pageant after the winners are announced. The Reigning Queen plus the newly crowned queen and her court of 3 runner ups will be given the information for entry into the Miss NEA pageant. (The NEA Pageant is for winners from various pageants around Northeast Arkansas and not the Miss Arkansas Pageant preliminary.) One scholarship is available based on need. A photographer will be set up in the lobby of the Center for Performing Arts to take photographs on pageant night for your convenience.
The entry fee is $30.00 and must be included with entry forms. Late entries will be $40.00 (any day after NOVEMBER 11TH). NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER NOVEMBER 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN AFTER NOVEMBER 18, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. There will also be two optional categories: Most Photogenic in each category ($10 fee) and People’s Choice. Please bring an 8” x 10” photo and fee to practice on Thursday evening if you desire to be in the Most Photogenic portion of the pageant. Contestant’s name and division should be listed on the back of the photo. No entries for this category will be accepted after rehearsal. A People’s Choice Award will be presented in each division. Spectators may vote on their choice in the lobby prior to the pageant. Pageant/formal wear is appropriate attire for all contestants.
Completed entry forms, signed parent/contestant agreement, and entry fee are to be postmarked by NOVEMBER 11, 2016 .

Judges will not be employed by Jonesboro Schools or have children eligible for this pageant. The decision of the judges is final and score sheets will not be available. The judges will not be available for comment after the pageant. Anyone who does not follow these guidelines will make the contestant in question ineligible for next year’s pageant. Contestants will be judged on poise, appearance, and personality. Modeling will not be a part of the scoring. There will be a random-draw interview question for the Teen Miss and Miss Hurricane divisions which will be a portion of the scoring tally. There will be a winner and two alternates in each division.
The doors will be open at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the pageant to contestants and 5:00 p.m. to audience members. Due to lack of dressing space, contestants should arrive with make-up and hair done. After contestants are dressed, chaperones will be required to return to the audience. Dressing areas and pageant procedures will be discussed at rehearsal.
At the end of the pageant, the queen of each division will be photographed as a group for the school yearbook. A group picture of the queens, with the exception of Tiny Miss, will also be taken by The Jonesboro Sun. This is a ruling of the newspaper, not the pageant committee.
YOU MUST USE A WORKING EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER ON THE ENTRY FORM THAT YOU CHECK OFTEN. ALL CORRESPONDENCE WILL GO THROUGH EMAIL IF A NEED ARISES.
