Overview Grading In this class students will explore the expressive qualities of clay and how to think 25% Homework visually in three dimensions. Students will acquire beginning hand building techniques including pinching, coiling, and slab. Student’s will also develop 50% Projects beginning skills on the potter’s wheel. Students will learn about diverse cultural 25% Studio Management traditions in ceramics and the historical development of pottery.

Evaluation Attendance Daily attendance is VERY important. Homework will be collected every Thursday. Because projects have to set up and dry you cannot crash build pottery. Elements of sculptures using art review. the elements of Pinchpot review art. 6/17/14 I can create a hollow form sculpture with surface texture with a partner. 6/18/14 I can use the hand tossed Italian technique to create tiles. Finish sculpture and grade on rubric. 6/19/14 I can critique a sculpture. I can discuss art using the elements and principals of art. lab I can work on and complete my group sculpture.
