Job Title Protect and Sustain Project Officer Regeneration Business Area

KEY OBJECTIVES . To fully engage with local land managers in order to promote and facilitate the restoration and good management of target habitats and to work with them to promote awareness of these habitats to a wider audience; . To promote the increased take-up of agri-environment schemes which support environmentally sensitive land management; . To involve local communities in the protection, conservation and management of the landscape.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (a) Work in liaison with the Project Team and all delivery partners and stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the Protect and Sustain Programme of the Landscape Conservation Action Plan (LCAP). (b) To establish and maintain effective working relationships with farmers and landowners in the LCGM project areas, raising awareness of the importance of grazing marsh and of the LCGM Project. (c) To provide advice to farmers and landowners on suitable HLS and ELS options for applications relating to restoration and maintenance of existing grazing marsh; the creation of new grazing marsh; and associated water level management. (d) To develop, manage and promote the Landscape Enhancement Grant by working closely with farmers and project partners. (e) To identify training needs and develop training programmes and collaborative farming schemes in line with the Protect and Sustain programme of the Landscape Conservation Action Plan. (f) Coordinate the activities of the various Protect and Sustain delivery partners as detailed within the approved Landscape Conservation Action Plan. Ensure that they deliver their outputs to agreed timescale and budgets. (g) Implement financial monitoring and reporting systems and ensure that delivery partners provide appropriate and timely information. (h) Monitor delivery against fundraising targets and provide updates to the LCGM LP Project Manager as required. (i) Implement health and safety procedures in accordance with East Lindsey District Council policy. (j) Negotiate and manage contracts for consultants and other organisations undertaking work on behalf of LCGM LP. (k) Co-ordinate, initiate and/or manage research and survey work to deliver the objectives of the development stage of the process. Publicity and Awareness (l) Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant issues and developments, at both a strategic and a local level, and act as a central point of contact for the Protect and Sustain Programme. (m) Enlarge on existing consultations with local communities and organisations, individuals and land managers to assist in the development of the project. (n) Promote the project and its objectives through press releases, promotional materials, public meetings and other events in conjunction with partners’ Marketing Teams and HLF. (o) Engage partners such as voluntary bodies, companies, individuals, community groups and public bodies to become involved in the delivery/support of projects. (p) Represent LCGM LP at meetings and events as required.

Full driving licence, preferably clean, and access to a vehicle (E) ii) Knowledge and understanding . An understanding of project management and processes . An understanding of issues faced by people from diverse backgrounds in both rural and urban communities (E) . In depth understanding of current natural and man-made heritage issues, with particular knowledge of farming practices, agri-environment grant schemes and creation and management of wet grassland (E) . An understanding of countryside access and interpretation (E) . Knowledge of the key organisations involved in the UK countryside (D) . Knowledge of the ecology and natural history of the British Isles (D) . Knowledge and experience of land management and conservation practices (E) . Knowledge of the built environment, including archaeology (D) . Broad understanding of training and education (D) . Awareness of access issues (D) iii) Recent and relevant experience . At least 3 years practical experience of co-ordinating or managing projects (E) . At least 2 years’ experience of working with / co-ordinating a range of organisations (specifically community groups) (E) . Experience of working with farmers and landowners to develop Farm Environment Plans/Higher Level Stewardship Scheme applications (E) . Giving presentations to a range of audiences (E) . Organising and prioritising a competing workload (E) . Managing a budget (E) . Experience of policy and strategy work (D) . Negotiating and managing contracts (D) . Preparing funding bids (D) . Experience of Heritage Lottery Fund Projects (D) . Experience of administration of small grant schemes . Using GIS and computer database systems (D) iv) Skills: The postholder will need: . Self-motivation (E) vi) Other duties The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time within the context of the grade for this post.
