SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS

The following is a brief summary of the new and revised paragraphs in the Standard for Commercial Warewashing Equipment, NSF 3, which have a future Effective Date of September 3, 2007 and the action that may be required to determine compliance.

Paragraphs General Subject and Comment 5.1.16.1 In addition to chemical and sanitizer feeders, rinse aid feeders (if equipped with rinse aid feeders) must also conform with NSF 29, Detergent and Chemical Feeders for Commercial Spray-Type Dishwashing Machines. 5.1.16.3 (NEW) Any dishmachine not equipped by the manufacturer with a detergent or chemical sanitizer feeder must have the following statement in the product’s operating manual:

"This machine must be operated with an automatic detergent feeder and, if applicable, an automatic chemical sanitizer feeder, including a visual means to verify that detergents and sanitizers are delivered or a visual or audible alarm to signal if detergents and sanitizers are not available for delivery to the respective washing and sanitizing systems. Please see instructions for electrical and plumbing connections located in this manual and in the feeder equipment manual." 5.1.16.5 (NEW) All units with detergent or chemical sanitizer feeders or both must have a visual means to verify that detergents and sanitizers are delivered, or be equipped with a visual or audible alarm to signal if detergents and sanitizers are not being delivered to the respective washing and sanitizing systems. 7.4.1 (NEW) Product instructions or associated product literature must not contain statements whereby the manufacturer recommends that detergent or sanitizers shall be manually added to a dishmachine.
