OCEAN HEROES AWARD 2017 Nomination Form

Rat i o n a le The award recognizes individuals who have consistently worked for the protection of Tañon Strait, fought against destructive projects and illegal fishing in the area, ensured enforcement of fisheries laws and protection of habitats and species, and inspires others to be a change agent in effecting policies geared towards sustainable fisheries management in the protected area.

E ligi b ili t y It is open to individuals, conservation advocates, and community leaders who have a track record in working for the conservation and sustainability of Tañon Strait. Nominees are not necessarily residents of the three provinces (Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental and Cebu) but have contributed to the protection of Tañon Strait significantly. Government employees are not eligible to be nominated for these awards.

Three Ocean Heroes will be chosen for each of the provinces of Cebu, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental and another for the Women sector. Winners will be selected according to their contribution to the protection of Tañon Strait in the following fields: 1. Fighting or stopping destructive projects and illegal fishing in the area 2. Enforcement of fisheries laws and protection of habitats and species 3. Inspiring others to be change agents in effecting policies geared towards sustainable fisheries management in the protected area

E v a lu at i o n a n d S e l e c t ion pro c e ss The submitted nominations will be evaluated and validated by a screening committee. The selection process for the finalist will be based on the following criteria: Relevance and impact 30%, Reach 20%, Leadership 20%, Integrity 30%
