Travel Grant

I. Purpose of the Fund

The purpose of the travel grant is to recognize and assist STTI: Delta Tau Chapter-At-Large members with the necessity of business travel. The fund provides monies for travel and business related accommodations.

II. Fund Sources A. Private donation without restrictions to Sigma Theta Tau International policies B. General chapter funds as approved in the budget

III. Processing Fund Monies A. Funds will be awarded to an active STTI: Delta Tau Chapter-At-Large member, in accordance with the attendance of the Biennial STTI International Nursing Research Conference or other official STTI conference and the presentation of a poster, podium event, or keynote speaking. B. If the awarded applicant is unable to utilize the funds to attend the Biennial STTI International Nursing Research Conference or other official STTI conference, the applicant must notify the chapter immediately, as the unused funds will be returned and made available to the next qualified applicant. C. Funds will only be awarded based on availability. D. Fund usage by recipients will be monitored. The chapter may request proof of purchases and proof of attendance to the Biennial STTI International Nursing Research Conference or other official STTI conference. E. Approved fund usage: a. Airfare b. Registration Fees c. Hotel Accommodation F. Funds will be disbursed after the honoree’s travel. The honoree must submit all receipts and documentation within 45 days of the event.

IV. Criteria A. Applicant Criteria 1. Active member of Delta Tau Chapter-At-Large 2. Documented approval of acceptance and intent to present at the Biennial STTI International Nursing Research Conference or other official STTI conference

3. Willing to present poster/brief to organizational chapter upon request up to one (1) year after receiving grant monies. B. Application 1. Application deadline is 90 days prior to approved event 2. Submit an application and a written statement proposing the applicants brief/poster/speaking topic 3. Signed formal agreement: STTI Travel Grant Attestation 4. Attachments: a. Documented approval of acceptance and intent to present at the Biennial STTI International Nursing Research Conference or other official STTI conference. b. Visual of presenting work/poster (photos, speaking points, etc.). c. Estimation of total expenses C. Competitive Basis for Fund Allocation 1. Significance and relevancy of presenting material/work 2. Contribution to organizational growth, the nursing profession, or public benefit 3. Chapter budget considerations and number of proposals submitted 4. Preference will be given to applicants who have never received the grant

V. Grant Allocation A. Funds in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to an active STTI: Delta Tau Chapter-At-Large member If multiple applicants are under consideration, award amounts of $500.00 will be disbursed to two qualifying honorees. The maximal payout amount to any one applicant is $1000.00, or any two applicants is $500.00 each. B. Grant will be offered every two (2) years for conference attendance or if another opportunity relating to STTI arises, then yearly, as the budget allows. C. Award recipients may not reapply for the grant within any four (4) year period.

VI. Publicity Grant recipients will be announced at in May per the chapter’s board meeting. Applicant submission will be review by appointed executive committee Completion of event(s), recipient(s), and award(s) may be reported in the chapter newsletter.
