Clinical Research Training Program

e are pleased to announce the dates for the next Clinical Research Training Program. This CME approved training, sponsored by the UC Davis Heath WWSystem Office of Continuing Medical Education and the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), is designed for new and junior physicians, investigators, pharmacists, nurses, research coordinators, and staff with little or no research experience who wish to learn basic clinical research principles. This training will provide an overview of the historical, ethical, and regulatory considerations required to perform clinical research, along with opportunities for mentorship. Program instructors are from various departments and divisions of the Davis and Sacramento campuses.

Participants will be asked to attend two 8 hour sessions. Participants who attend both sessions and pass a short written exam will receive a certificate of completion.

The two sessions will take place on Tuesday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 23, in the CTSC Auditorium #1400. Lunch will be provided for both sessions. This training is limited to 40 participants.

Physician Credit: The Office of Continuing Medical Education of the University of California, Davis, Health System (School of Medicine, Medical Center and Medical Group) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistant: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA accredited Category 1 courses are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.

Psychologist: This educational activity is recognized by the California Board of Psychology as meeting the continuing education requirements toward license renewal for California psychologist (self reporting required).

Registered Nurse: The California Board of Registered Nursing accepts CME Category 1 credit toward license renewal. On the BRN license renewal form, report the number of hours you attended (up to 14.5 hours of credit) and fill in “CME Category 1” for the provider number.
