JACOB SCHALLIOL
Jacob Schalliol, 80 years old, a prominent farmer of Madison township, St. Joseph county, a weekly reader of the TRIBUNE from the first issue, died in the St. Joseph hospital in Mishawaka, Feb. 21, 1929, from injuries sustained in a fall several weeks ago, when he suffered a fracture of his left hip.
Mr. Schalliol was born December 19, 1849, in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Schalliol, and was brought to this country by his parents when he was four years old The family first settled in Ohio but shortly afterward came to Indiana and located in St. Joseph county, near Wakarusa, where Mr. Schalliol had lived ever since.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Louise, Anna and Edward Schalliol, at home; Charles Schalliol, of Mishawaka; and Mrs. William Stickel, of Osceola; seven grandchildren, and two brothers, August Schalliol, of northwest of Wakarusa; and Julius Schalliol, of Wakarusa. Mrs. Schalliol died last fall.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at two o’clock at the Zion Evangelical church near the Schalliol home. The Rev. J. F. Kreuger officiated and burial made in Rest Haven cemetery.
