Ballet/Tap Mini Session for 4-6 year olds 12 weeks – March 18-June 10 (no class on April 1)

Imagination and creativity is key while your child will be challenged as she/he masters the beginning steps of ballet. They will also fine-tune basic motor skills, including jumping, hopping, skipping, and balance. Proper ballet terminology is used. Students also learn tap vocabulary and rhythm patterns. 60 minute class (1 hour)

Thursday 5:30-6:30

Uniform – For girls any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes, plus black patent leather tap shoes. For boys comfortable clothing they can move easily in. For example, they may wear sweatpants or shorts, and a t-shirt.

Cost is $180 for 12 weeks with no registration fee.

Our 2009-2010 session began the week of September 21, 2009, and run for ten months, concluding with the MCPA Spring Gala Production in June 2010. Students can still add to open classes below but participation in the gala will be at the teachers discretion.

Creative Movement – 2.5-3.5 year olds A fun class that will inspire your child’s imagination and creativity; your child will explore movement through music, games, and props. She will learn basic motor skills, including jumping, hopping, and skipping, and work on balance and simple coordination exercises. Proper ballet terminology is introduced whenever appropriate. 45 minute class (.75 hour) Tues 5:00-5:45, Thurs 6:30-7:15 (closed), Sat 9:45-10:30 (closed) Uniform – For girls any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes. For your convenience, we recommend ordering these items through MCPA to ensure correct style and color. For boys comfortable clothing they can move easily in. For example, they may wear sweatpants or shorts, and a t-shirt. Kinderdance – 3.5-4.5 year olds Expanding upon the curriculum of Creative Movement where imagination and creativity is key, your child will continue to be challenged as she/he masters the beginning steps of ballet. They will also continue to fine-tune basic motor skills, including jumping, hopping, skipping, and balance. Proper ballet terminology is used. Your child will also be thrilled as they are introduced the basics of tap dance. 60 minute class (1 hour) Mon 6:00-7:00 (closed), Tues 5:45-6:45 (closed), Sat 10:30-11:30 (closed) Uniform – For girls any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes, plus black patent leather tap shoes. For your convenience, we recommend ordering these items through MCPA to ensure correct style and color. For boys comfortable clothing they can move easily in. For example, they may wear sweatpants or shorts, and a t-shirt. Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo – 5-6 year olds Your child will learn the fundamentals of Ballet, including proper terminology and classroom etiquette. A jazz warm up is introduced where your child will work on stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as coordination skills. Students also learn tap vocabulary and rhythm patterns. Skills learned in this class help facilitate your child’s transition to the young dancer program at age 7. 75 minute class (1.25 hours) Mon 7:00-8:15(closed), Tues 6:45-8:00 (closed), Sat 11:30-12:45 (closed) Uniform – For girls any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes, plus black patent leather tap shoes. Dancers wear ballet shoes for jazz. For your convenience, we recommend ordering these items through MCPA to ensure correct style and color. For boys comfortable clothing they can move easily in. For example, they may wear sweatpants or shorts, and a t-shirt. Hip-Hop – 5-6 year olds A fun, high-energy class where students can learn the latest dance moves from their favorite music videos. All MCPA Hip-Hop classes are conducted in a family friendly environment. 45 minute class (.75) – one day per week: Ages 5-6: Fri 5:30-6:15 Uniform – comfortable street clothes and sneakers.
