2. ROLE CONTEXT Role Summary The Warehouse Architect is a role within the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing (BIDW) team in the Practice Development Directorate, Families SA and is accountable to the Manager, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing for:  delivering high quality information and reporting solutions Leading, overseeing and providing expert advice to Analyst Programmers and Information Developer in the creation of information and reporting solutions that are architected and technically sound.  reviewing code, information and reporting solutions developed by Analyst Programmers and Information Developer.  maintaining BIDW documentation, including: register of statistical adhoc data requests, register of operational report requests, procedures. Reporting/Workin  Manager, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing (direct manager). g Relationships  Other government departments or Agencies involved in management and operation of data warehouse functions; including Senior Managers across DECD.  Manager and Technical Staff in IT Services Branch.  Data Governance group and sub group members.  Families SA staff and other users of information generated by the data warehouse. Special  Must possess a current South Australian Driver’s Licence and be willing to drive. Conditions  Some out of hours work may be required and intrastate travel, involving overnight absences will be required.  Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a Background Screening and National Criminal History Record Check (NCHRC) prior to being employed and every three years. 3. QUALIFICATIONS Essential Not applicable PRIMARY OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES KEY RELATED TASKS RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership  Assist the Manager, BIDW to manage the team and exercise a lower level of decision making relating to the operational activities and performance of the team;  Participate in, guide and coordinate the activities of the team through analysis of changing business need to ensure business applications continue to meet business objectives;  Provide high level information guidance to report users;  Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and business leaders;  Actively engaging the team with processes and procedures focused on assuring the timely delivery of quality work products;  Collaborating with Manager, BIDW to plan administration, maintenance and development work; Technical  Provide detailed technical input and directions in developing and maintaining a corporate information Contribution architecture incorporating databases and other technology driven solutions, software infrastructure and toolsets (Oracle, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Cognos);  Undertake and facilitate the design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing monitoring and management of the information and reporting solutions for the department;  Develop high quality technical information and reporting solutions that meet project and business requirements of high complexity;  Adhere to, provide input on and implement development methodologies and coding standards, which provide a flexible environment for the integration of databases and information and reporting methodologies;  Perform high quality unit, integration and system testing for solutions;  Provide leadership to drive the technical efforts of the BIDW team and make critical decisions on feasibility of solutions and projects; Project Contribution  Provide sound technical direction for project information and reporting solutions that meet complex business requirements;  Develop quality technical information and reporting solutions for projects to meet business requirements;  Provide the Agency with a mentoring service including: providing expert advice and assistance with information and reporting solutions related queries, issues, techniques and data access problems from business users;  Analyse, design, develop, implement, test, maintain and train users of corporate information and reporting solutions utilising selected software infrastructure and methodologies including databases, data processes, quality assurance and IT standards;  Contribute to project schedules by preparing task estimates and reporting regularly on the status of assigned tasks and providing details of actual time taken against estimated time;  Implement major changes to the warehouse database and servers, by undertaking project leadership responsibility including planning technical aspects of the project, assessing impacts and Mentor ing technical staff; Customer Relations  Effectively facilitate achievement of business objectives, facilitate stakeholder buy-in to project processes and manage their expectations;  Develop and maintain effective consultative and working relationships between senior management, clients, project teams, consultants and service providers;  Collaborate with the business leadership on strategic technology issues and effectively negotiate to achieve business objectives;  Leading high level liason with, and the provision of expert advice to, a range of key internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of best practice processes, tools and information;  Collaborate with business staff and business analysts to translate complex business requirements into sound technical designs of information and reporting solutions;  Leading development and maintenance of key documentation, including the data dictionary, coding standards and BIDW procedures;

Page 2 PRIMARY OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Data Warehouse  Running and maintaining the Families SA Oracle Data Warehouse, including daily monitoring of the Function Extract Transform Load (ETL) process and quarantine area and logging and monitoring change requests;  Responsible for testing, peer review and deployment of all Analyst Programmer and Information Developer scripts to live environments, ensuring they are in line with the enterprise technical architecture;  Leading the development and maintenance of Oracle fact tables to support statistical reporting and oracle procedures to support operational reports;  Responding to complex adhoc requests either from the Cognos adhoc reporting environment or by writing PL/SQL in oracle, for information from both internal and external customers in accordance with privacy and security polices;  Development and maintenance of Cognos framework manager dimensional and relational projects to support both the operational report environment and the statistical adhoc reporting environment;  Undertake projects involving the modification and enhancement of the Families SA Data Warehouses (Oracle and SQL Server). ROLE SPECIFIC CAPABILITIES

1 Information Development: demonstrate conceptual and practical knowledge of information architecture, principles of information management/integration, corporate report development and data storage (Cognos, Oracle, Oracle Warehouse Builder, SQL Server and computerised statistical analysis packages, including SAS).

2 Initiative: take prompt action to solve problems, act decisively on own judgement and look to go beyond job requirements to achieve objectives as well as proven ability to translate business questions and requirements into technical solutions.

3 Data and ICT Knowledge Base: relevant industry experience in data modelling; database creation and administration used to implement data warehouses; maintenance of data warehouse to ensure performance and end user access and security; considerable experience in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data, SQL and relational data sources and software development methodologies;

4 Systems Development Experience: utilise experience with the full software development life cycle including business analysis, system development management techniques, project management (including working within a project management methodology) and quality control mechanisms.
