What is Studio Dance Intensive?

Studio Dance Intensive offers a comprehensive, challenging program for the serious dance student. It has been developed solely for those dancers who are looking to advance their overall technique. Studio Dance Intensive is also for the dancer who is not currently enrolled in our Select program but would like to audition for placement during the upcoming fall session.

The one week session includes classes in jazz, lyrical, funky jazz, stretching, turning and leaping. Students will be placed in one of the three levels (see below) by the Studio Dance Intensive staff. The goal of Studio Dance Intensive is to encourage, develop, and challenge each dancer's technique as well as nurture their expressiveness and self-confidence.

Level Descriptions

Level 1: This level is for the student with a few years of dance experience and who is looking to focus on basics in technique, flexibility, and form. Students will begin to master isolations of the body, overall placement, single/double pirouettes/turns, chaines, and pique turns. In this level we will be working on large jumps and begin across the floor combinations, which will link together various turns and leaps.

Level 2: This level is for the student who has mastered the following skills; single/double pirouettes/turns, chaines, pique turns, and basic large jumps. In this level students will begin to master triple pirouettes, more advanced jumps/turns, fouette turns, turns in second, and more advanced across the floor combinations.

Level 3: This level is for the student who has mastered the following skills; triple pirouettes, more advanced jumps/turns, fouette turns and turns in second. In this level students will begin to master linking technical elements together as well as learning to dance through those technical elements.
