Solterra Books and Author Ann Morris Travel to Top Childhood Conference

Etna, NH — November 1, 2004 — Solterra Books of Etna, N.H., will bring their mobile bookstore to the National Early Childhood Conference in Anaheim, Calif., on November 10-13, 2004. Popular children’s author Ann Morris (www.annmorrisbooks.com), well- known for her multicultural titles, and her photographer Peter Linenthal will be on hand to autograph their books and talk to fans every day of the conference.

Founded in 2002 by the husband and wife team of David and Rebecca Parker, Solterra Book’s mobile bookstore has earned an impressive reputation for its solid selection of children’s books and audio materials as well as its personal customer service. The traveling bookstore allows the Parkers to bring quality titles to the attention of parents, educators and librarians where they can touch, see and choose from 2,000 carefully selected volumes that include beloved classics such as Goodnight Moon or Make Way for Ducklings as well as the latest from authors such as Eric Carle (www.eric-carle.com) or Lynne Cherry (www.lynnecherry.com) or storyteller Jim Weiss (www.greathall.com). It will be a welcome addition to the conference, which is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is attended by thousands of professionals involved with early childhood education.

When the Parkers started Solterra Books, they combined their experience in education and technology as well as their interactions with their four daughters to create an unusual book distribution company. “We carefully consider every title we add to our catalog,” Rebecca says. “Of all the books we read, the ones we love as children stay with us the longest. That’s why we started Solterra Books, to ensure that children and the people who read to them have access to the very best books. We want to share books that delight, excite and educate.”

With hundreds of thousands of children’s book titles published in the United States every year, it can be an overwhelming task to weed through them to find the ones with the qualities that brighten and nourish the lives of young children. “We were spending a lot of time going through libraries, bookstores and on the Web to find books we wanted to share with our own children,” David says. “That’s when we realized that this was a service we could provide for others.”

Solterra Book’s mobile bookstore has traveled to Vermont, Ohio, New York, and Massachusetts. This is Solterra Book’s first appearance in California.
