Treasurer’s Report Treasurer’s report reviewed and approved, as presented by Evan Montague. Wayne County Community College has made full conference and dues payments. Currently, 2012 dues have been received from 14 members. Southwestern Michigan College alerted Evan of their intent to not renew membership. Evan will follow up with Mickey Hay. June Training expenses at Schoolcraft, including the gift card and chocolates, totaled $541.18 Current balance: $37,947.23
Fall Conference 2011 Naomi provided updates: Mark Taylor will present all day Thursday, with the morning focused on supervisor/employee communications and the afternoon focused on communications with students. Cheryl and Pat will serve as hostesses for the hospitality room. Chad and Evan will assist with shopping. Friday morning will feature three or four panels on best practices in technology, internal communications, and student success. Naomi will create an RFP and send it out to members. The board will review and approve RFPs and select moderators. Panels will be about 45 minutes each. Board decided to keep the Fall conference charges at the same rate as last year. Topics for the Deans/VP meeting: Gainful employment; access versus success (examples: enforcing policies such as orientation and application deadlines; readiness; mainstreaming)
Spring Conference 2012 Evan provided available dates for the LCC West Campus larger rooms. The board decided on March 15 for the Deans/VP meeting and March 16. Naomi will follow up with Toby Doherty, a student who spoke at Achieving the Dream Strategy Institute and consider a student panel. Another option is aha! that would present about the effects of poverty on communications and perspectives in a 6-hour program at $4000 plus expenses and books (at $33.50 each plus shipping). The board liked the idea of a motivational student panel. An option for March 16 is stress relief and celebration. The Carrot Principle is about frequent, effective recognition.
Meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
