Brian has a degree in Civil Engineering and was also trained in Law and Management. He spent twelve years working as an engineer for a construction company, firstly in the gold mining industry and moving through the ranks, before finishing as a head office based manager and director of a number of Engineering companies for a leading listed Industrial Group in South Africa. He managed a construction company before spending a number of years in the insurance claims field dealing with a number of major losses. He then started his own Engineering Loss Adjusting practice which prospered and grew for fifteen years until it had office and staff in two major coastal cities in South Africa. On relocating to Australia, he sold his business interests and joined a major Loss Adjusting Company and was based in the Perth office.
