Forget-Me-Not Program Information
Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® The Alzheimer’s Association, the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s.
Memory Walk is the Alzheimer’s Association’s trademark fundraising event to help those battling Alzheimer’s disease. Memory Walk is held in more than 600 communities across the country and attracts a wide audience of individuals, families, caregivers, and corporate and community leaders. In 2007, Memory Walk raised $35 million to support the nearly 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease.
In its 11th year, the Franklin County Memory Walk will be held at Fred Beekman Field at The Ohio State University on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Last year, this Memory Walk raised over $115,000 through the efforts of corporations like yours, teams, individuals, forget-me-not sales, and other creative fundraisers. This year, our goal is to raise $165,000 and we can’t do it without you!
Forget-Me-Not Program Each year, thousands of paper Forget-Me-Not flowers are sold in local stores, banks, restaurants and assisted living facilities across the country. Flowers are sold to patrons for $1 per flower at the point of purchase and then display all of the flowers sold to create a community-driven visual display.
The Forget-Me-Not program is designed to raise awareness as well as funds for Memory Walk and the resources available to the millions affected by Alzheimer’s disease. It is a great way for your business to show your support, contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association and engage the local community.
It’s Easy to Participate! Forget-Me-Nots are typically sold in the 4-6 weeks leading up to Memory Walk although it can be done at any time. At the end of the promotion, the business will submit proceeds to the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association so recognition may be given appropriately.
The Alzheimer’s Association will provide you with as many Forget-Me-Nots as you need, as well as any additional promotional materials to make the program a success. We are also happy to attend manager or staff meetings to provide further training and explanation of the program.
