COS: Standards for the 21st Century Learner: #1.1.6-2.1.4-2.4.3-3.1-4.4.3.2-3.1.6-1.1.8-1.3.5-1.1.2-4.1.3-4.3.2 *Technology Standards: #4, 7& 8 Objective 1: The students will practice and improve the skill of reading silently for an instructed period of time in order to develop a community of excellent lifelong readers who share the pleasures of reading. This lesson will allow the students to appreciate reading as a means of learning and enjoyment, to understand information, and to value and appreciate the love of reading.

Objective #2: The students will select and check out books on an appropriate level and learn and understand proper book check-out procedure/routine within the LMC.

Objective #3: The students will be able to listen for a variety of informational purposes--getting directions, performing tasks (books checked in/out process), and following rules.
