When in mediation or in prayer, we should be listening to our inner voice. Our Heavenly Father does not always reveal his plans to us immediately. Be patient and live far from distractions and follow the Lord’s will.

Well, another month has gone by and we (mainly each of you) step it up a notch in our commitments to raise funds. Thanks to Our Lord for his many blessing to continue to do his work.
During the month of April, KC members were busy preparing for the KC Wives Appreciation Dinner, in which a good turn-out of wives partook and enjoyed an exquisite meal including excellent vinery beverage.
Also, Brother Knights gather at the Verver’s residence to prepare and cook briskets for the Knights of Columbus Annual Golf Tournament. Not to mention a chance to pick up on a few pointers and secret ingredients for Bar-B-Qing briskets. It is events such as these that bring the camaraderie within the council. What better opportunity is there to get to know you fellow Brothers then having refreshment afterward? Thanks to Brother Robert A. for heading up this venture along with the crew of chefs, Brothers Lee, Jesse, Mario, Jose, Eric, Raul, James, Joe M., Joe C., Cosme, Marcos, Monty and Pete who made themselves available to ensure briskets were prepped and well-cooked.
In addition those mentioned above, thanks to Brothers Steve, Romeo, Pedro, Bob B. Howard, Paul, Rick, David M., Sonny, Leonard and Richard for their assistance at tournament registration and the award’s dinner. (Not to forget TITO’s Vodka contributions). The success of the Golf Tournament would not be possible without someone to coordinate these efforts, THANKS to Brother James Adame and David Maldonado, Council’s Golf Tournament Coordinators. I am still working in tallying the income and expenses needed to determine the amount raised for scholarships. As soon as I receive the reports from the Coordinators, Treasurer and Financial Secretary the information will be disseminated.
The end of the Fraternal Year is closing in and nomination of officers for Fraternal Year 2015-16 will be the main agenda at our next council meeting. It is important that you attend May’s meeting since recommendations are being entertained for June’s election of officers. The 1 st and 2nd year trustees and the Financial Secretary are the only positions not vacant for nomination. However if you are interested in assuming the FS position, please let me know. You’ll need to get the required training and only after approval from Supreme is received.
This brings me to a topic in which needs to be addressed. “Stepping up to the Plate / Batter’s Box”, I do not mean in terms of baseball. I am referring to each and every one of us having the responsibility to take a leadership role in the Council. Do not be apprehensive to voluntarily assume responsibility. Your skills and assistance is needed to take the lead of a position or an event. Fearful of failure, don’t be you are not alone; you have 125 Brothers who are willing to lend a hand. If you are interested in an officer’s position in the coming fraternal year, becoming a Bingo Operator, Caller or cashier, a Committee Chairman, Concession Lead, or Coordinator for an event, don’t wait to be asked, Step Up To The Plate. All is needed is your commitment, dedication, and support of spouse and family members.
In addition to generating a slate of officers for the upcoming fraternal year, we have several events coming in the next couple of months which will be brought up at our next regular monthly meeting scheduled for May 12th at 7:30. Hope to see you then.
Thank you and God Bless, Analberto “AL” Garza Grand Knight 9038
