Altoona Children’s Council/ 4K Meeting Sept. 5th, 2014 10:00 AM District Board Room

Present: Kathy Roen, Susan Hintgen, Krystina Nygren, Kellie Kjesbo, Donna Weix, Debbie Davis & Paula Tews

ACC Business:

Meeting called to order at 10:00am

1) Account Balance $1,150.36

2) Minutes from August were approved with a spelling correction.

3) Ice Cream Social- Susan reported attendance was still down a little. Approximately 750 attended. Gloves and name tags will be needed for next year. A few Community groups were present. Overall everything was very nice.

4) Krystina shared some information about the new Altoona Compassion Coalition.

5) Election of Officers- President and Co-President elected, Donna Weix and Susan Hintgen, Vice–President elect will be Kathy Roen, and the new Secretary will be Kellie Kjesbo. Thank you.

4K Reports-

1) Family, School, Community Partnership-The Little School House has a new teacher and the 1st day of school for 4K was Sept. 4th. Overall everything went pretty well with a small bus delay.

2) Professional Development- Susan Reported 3 teachers need the PALS training yet. There is an interest in another Love and Logic session. We would still need to find a presenter. WECC will be held in Middleton WI on Nov 13 th-15th.

3) Program and Evaluation-The ECERS visits will be coming up again this year. Some sites will have one visit and some will have two.

4) Registration and Enrollment- There are currently 89 children enrolled in the 4K program.

5) Special Services- Donna reported that story time will take place for (The Story Braid Program) for 3 year old this fall and will be piloted by her to help with the speech and language development.

Other Business: 1) Kellie updated the group that the B-3 Program has made some changes and we will see some new names in the program. 2) Head Start has started a Home-based program 3 Fridays a month in Altoona and there are currently 12 kids enrolled. 3) Child Development Day is set for the 23rd of October. The gym is reserved, letters are ready to mail out. The date needs to be emailed and spread throughout the newsletters.

Next meeting to be held Friday October 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the District Board Room.
