SAUDI ARABIAN SAIPEM LTD. Khurais, Crude Facilities Project
The project was basically a plant being constructed for the Gas and Oil Separation.
I was working in QA/QC Section as Steel Structural QC Inspector. I was the Saudi Aramco Approved Inspector and having the (Saudi Aramco SAP # 70010490)
The Inspection was done according to the ARAMCO Standards, which are basically taken from the AISC, PIP, ASTM, NICE, and API.
MY RESPONSIBILITIES: According to Saudi ARAMCO Standards the inspection of Steel Structure Erection is done in the six steps. So this was the responsibility to do the inspection at the following stages, Support Foundation Inspection. Preliminary Alignment and Elevation Inspection. Pre-Installation verification for the Bolts to be used. Final Bolt Tightening Inspection of High Strength Bolts. Final Alignment/ Re-instatement Inspection of Main Structures. Final Punch listing (which includes the inspection of Miscellaneous Structures Including Stairs, Ladders, Handrails, Platforms, Gratings etc)

I joined the Descon in the start of the project and completed that project. My major contribution was in the Fabrication of Equipment and Steel Structure and in the last I also worked in the erection of plant.
FABRICATION OF EQUIPMENT:
I contributed 1500 Tons of equipment fabrication at the DG cement project. Our fabrication team used to do the detail engineering for the fabrication and after that Workshop Execution.
Following equipments were fabricated direct under my supervision.
I worked for Raw Mill ESP and Clinker Cooler ESP’s Equipment Fabrication of 400 Tons each for on-site fabrication and off-site fabrication also. Because the manufacturing involving the bending and shearing was awarded at a workshop in Faisalabad.
Apart from these includes many ductings like Raw Mill Cyclones, Coal Meal Bins, Conditioning Tower, SF SILO internal Equipments etc. on my workshop.
Since all the fabrication workshops were at same place so all of the equipment which was not under direct supervision of an Engineer but we experienced all that being every time there, like Pre-Heater Cyclones, Ductings of Pre-Heater Raw Mill and Coal Mill, etc.
FABRICATION OF STEEL STRUCTURE: Fabrication of Steel Structure was also done on my workshop.
The Fabrication of Pre-Heater 6th Stage Columns, Pre-Heater 3rd Stage Floor Beams, Pre-Heater 5th Stage Floor Beam, Pre-Heater 3rd Stage Vertical Diagonal Bracings, Pre-Heater 3rd Stage Horizontal Diagonal Bracings etc. all included the fabrication of rolled profile beams, These rolled profiles were Heavy W-Sections, HEB sections, HP Profiles and I-Sections.
The ESP Structures also included the Rectangular Hollow Rolled Profile Sections.
Apart from this, Built up Steel Structures for ESPs for the HEB and Rectangular Hollow Sections were fabricated.
Miscellaneous Structures like Gangways, Platforms, Stairs, Ladders, Handrails were apart of the main structures.
MACHINING ITEMS: I was also concerned with the manufacturing of items prepared on machine tools. During fabrication many of such items are required according to drawing, which involve, facing, turning, threading, boring etc. These items were ordered in a workshop in taxila.
ERECTION: Being related to the fabrication we were always involved in the erection of steel structure and equipment especially in the erection of ESP and in the end of project I was shifted at the Erection for the erection of the ducting and punch listings were in progress.

Erection of Refused Derive Fuel plant was done for the older line of FCCL.
Ware house of FCCL and one for Descon was constructed. Their trusses were fabricated, painted and erected.
MECHANICAL WORKSHOP:
A small mechanical workshop was established with 20 workers as a supporting device for the civil work of project & mobilization needs of FCCL project where light fabrication works was done and many small sheds were made.
BESTWAY CEMENT LTD. Bestway Cement Extension Project, Hattar, Pakistan.
My starting career was from Bestway cement. At that time extension of plant was being done from 3300 TPD to 4500 TPD. So fabrication and erection of two Pre-Heater Cyclones, Raw Mill Classifier and also the fabrication and erection of Bucket Elevators was taking place.
