From the Offices of Faith Development, Liturgy and Youth MinistryYear of Faith

On October 11th, 2012, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. To commemorate this extraordinary event, Pope Benedict XVI has named Oct.11, 2012 - Nov. 24, 2013 the Year of Faith - a time for all Roman Catholics to reconnect with their faith by rediscovering and renewing their relationship with Christ and his Church. The English Deanery of the Archdiocese of Moncton is pleased to offer events to mark this Year of Faith. Brochures are available in your parishes to outline what these events are and when they will be offered. Information will also be appearing regularly in your bulletins, and so:

Christian Community and Catechesis: We see catechesis and we think, 'ah, something for the catechism teacher of my child.' Yet all baptized Catholics are called to accompany one another in their faith journey - the entire Christian community has a role to play in passing on the faith, albeit a different one. During the Year of Faith, we invite you to come and see what your role is and while doing so rejuvenate yourselves and deepen your relationship with Christ. 8 sessions are offered throughout the year, beginning on Wed., Sep. 19th with The Church's Mission of Evangelization. Other dates are: Oct. 17th, Nov. 21st, Jan. 16th, Feb. 20th, Mar. 20th, Apr.17th and May 15th. All sessions take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Bernard's Church Hall. Sessions will be facilitated by Mike Jeffries and Ellen Bennett. Mike is a trained facilitator and a member of the Archdiocese's Adult Faith Commission. He and his wife Mary Ann are parishioners at Holy Family parish, and have been active in that community and at the diocesan level for many years. Presently, he is involved with Marriage Prep . Ellen is with the Office of Faith Development for the Archdiocese. These sessions are open to all the faithful, and especially catechists involved in baptismal and marriage preparation, RCIA, youth ministry, parish and family faith formation. Please register by contacting Ellen Bennett at [email protected] or 857-9531, ext. 227. Registration deadline is Tuesday, September 18th.

Continuing from sessions begun in the spring for the Rexton area, Session #3 from Christian Community and Catechesis will be presented on Tues., Sep. 18th from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church Hall. Registration for that session can be done by contacting Stephanie Beers at the parish office - 523-6817 or [email protected] or Ellen.
