0.2 METHODOLOGY

This unit draws on three main approaches to learning: experiential learning, the communicative approach and content-and-language integrated learning (CLIL) in order to revise the main contents in Comet 1. This unit emphasizes the use of learning skills such as repetition of models, memorization, word association, gestures and visual cues to acquire vocabulary, basic structures and phonology through related communicative activities. Primary Education: 2nd Course. COMET 2

0.3 UNIT OBJECTIVES

IN UNIT 0 STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO:

1. To introduce oneself and greet Halley the Comet 2. To revise key vocabulary and structures from level 1 3. To revise the alphabet 4. To identify the owners of different objects 5. To count to 20 correctly 6. To associate written numbers with the corresponding numerals 7. To revise the unit vocabulary 8. To complete evaluation and self-evaluation activities 9. 0.4.1 BLOCK 1 [B1]: LISTENING, SPEAKING AND CONVERSING

Interact to introduce themselves using non-verbal and verbal messages in L2 by using the visual context and/or knowledge about the situation transferred from L1. (Lesson 1 & 2)

Listen and understand the information so that they can recognise the objects named in the listening texts. (All lessons)

Show oral comprehension by understanding the instructions and doing a simple task such as matching numbers and classroom objects words. (Lesson 3)

Revise the vocabulary by playing the game: True or false. (Lesson 2)

1.2 METHODOLOGY Primary Education: 2nd Course. COMET 2

This unit draws on three main approaches to learning: experiential learning, the communicative approach and content-and-language integrated learning (CLIL) in order to learn about the human body and be able to express information related to the topic. Literacy has been carefully integrated through the story: The Gingerbread boy within a clearly structured framework to practice the language through related communicative and artistic activities.

 Art materials: Scissors, glue, A4 paper, harvest festival basket (included in Holidays and Seasons materials),a Snowman Christmas ornament (included in Holidays and Seasons materials), short pieces of string (three per child), A4 card, two large buttons and a small plastic carrot or a real one and a picture of different snowflakes, a multi-coloured mask (included in Holidays and Seasons materials), pictures of a carnival poster prepared earlier, flashcards of two or three musical instruments, clothes and food, A5 paper, poster paper, a bag to put the masks in.

9.2 METHODOLOGY

This unit draws on three main approaches to learning: experiential learning, the communicative approach and content-and-language integrated learning (CLIL) in order to learn about festivals and holidays and be able to express information related to the topic. The contents, that lead to a better knowledge of foreign countries’ celebrations and hence culture, have been carefully integrated in the units through communicative and artistic activities.
