CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT WITH FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES

The above parties, represented by (name and position) …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… of Genoa University and by (name and position) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….….. of ……………………………….. University in the belief that student mobility will improve the level of students’ development and will contribute to better understanding between the two countries, in accordance with the objectives by which the European Union is guided, are signing this co-operation agreement, which is governed by the following regulations.

1) Each Party identifies among its own students those who will take a period of study at the partner university. The students chosen must possess sufficient knowledge of the language used at the host university.

2) At the host university, the students may: - take entire course units (lessons or modules) and sit the required examinations upon completing the course units; - conduct research and study activities aimed at writing a thesis; - carry out training where this is contemplated by the teaching system. 3) The duration of the period of study at the partner university may not be less than three months or longer than one academic year.

4) The Parties will do their utmost to maintain the right proportion in reciprocal exchanges of students. For purposes of proper planning of flows, the maximum number of students which each party may send under this agreement is agreed as …... .

5) The Parties agree to exchange the necessary informational material on their organisation and services, as well as on the courses they offer.

6) The period of study taken by students at the host university forms an integral part of the program of studies at their home university. The activities to be carried out during that period are authorised by the competent Council of the course of studies, which will also announce its verdict in advance on whether or not the credits students intend to acquire at the other university will be recognised. The aforementioned activities with the relative credits are entered on the student’s academic record under the original name. At the end of the period of studies, the host university will issue the student with a certificate confirming the activities completed.

7) During the period of study at the foreign university, the student must comply with the internal rules and regulations thereof.

8) Students going abroad must possess appropriate certification proving health coverage.

9) The Parties exempt guest students from payment of university taxes and fees and said students may use services such as libraries, laboratories, etc., under the same conditions as their own students.

10) Students are required to seek accommodation themselves. The host universities agree to assist students in this search, on the basis of their own possibilities and according to the measures contemplated for welcoming students under mobility programs.

11) The universities recognise and accept that this bilateral co-operation agreement is signed outside the confines of EU programs for assisting student mobility.

12) This agreement will be valid for the academic year ……./…… and will be tacitly renewed from year to year, except in the case of withdrawal, to be notified to the other party within three months of the date of expiry.
