Research Research Associate, Biomedical Imaging Technology Center, Apr, 2010 – Dec, 2011 Experience Emory University, Atlanta, GA, USA Advisor: Prof. Xiaoping Hu Designed and constructed radio frequency coils and hardware for special needs of FMRI research collaborators Designed and constructed three-element phased array labeling coil which can be used in conjunction with receive and transmit coils to investigate perfusion of blood in human kidneys (Siemens 3.0T scanner). Implemented the hardware necessary for a three channel high power amplifier with PIN diode drivers to drive the phased array labeling coil used in kidney perfusion studies. Constructed 19F and 1H coils to investigate the feasibility of carotid perfusion studies in mice (Bruker Biospin 9.4T scanner).
Research Associate, Laboratory for Structural NMR Imaging, 2005 – July, 2009 University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA, USA Advisor: Prof. Felix W Wehrli
Investigated the effects of hypomineralization and recovery effects of cortical bone with ultra-short echo-time (UTE) imaging (31P and 1H) in a rabbit model of osteomalacia (Bruker Biospin 9.4T scanner) by quantifying bone phosphorus and bone water content. Investigated the effects of postmenopausal osteoporosis due to ovariectomy and treatment with alendronate in rat cortical bone using UTE imaging (31P and 1H) in an ovariectomized rat model (Bruker Biospin 9.4T scanner) Conducted multi modality study (high resolution solution NMR, -CT, biomechanics) to validate the results of UTE imaging in rabbit model of osteomalacia and ovariectomized rat model of osteoporosis
Post-Doctoral Fellow, Laboratory for Structural NMR Imaging 2002-2005 University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA,USA Advisor: Prof. Felix W Wehrli
Developed ultra-short echo-time imaging sequence (31P and 1H) to image cortical bone (Bruker-Biospin; 9.4T) Investigated the SNR improvements in carotid vessel wall imaging at 3.0T relative to 1.5T with high resolution black blood imaging Constructed phased array surface coils and bird cage coils to optimize imaging the carotids, ankle and wrist.
