Young children hear people talk then they try to make the same sounds. This is how we learn to talk. Young children grow in many ways. You cannot see yourself grow. But you change every day. Every day you grow new skin, hair and nails. Sometimes a baby tooth falls out. Permanent teeth grow and push out first teeth.

An adult is a fully grown person. Adults do not grow taller. But they change in other ways.

Exercise means moving your body. Exercise helps you stay healthy. You should exercise every day.

Rest means to stop moving. You rest when you sit still or sleep. Every day your body needs rest. Sleep helps you work and play. You need 8-10 hours of sleep every night.

Health means being well. Some foods help you stay healthy. Meat, fish, and milk are healthy foods. Fruits, vegetables, and breads are good foods.

Foods with a lot of fat and sugar are not good for you.

Your body has many muscles. Muscles help your body move. Your body has many bones. Bones hold your body up. You can feel the long bone in your legs. You can feel the short bones in your fingers.

To protect your bones you need to wear a seat belt in a car and a helmet when you ride your bike.

The food pyramid shows the groups of food. You need to eat more foods from the bottom of the pyramid. You need to eat less food from the top.

Staying clean also keeps you healthy. Germs can get on your hands. You cannot see germs. Wash your hand before you eat. Wash them after you touch a pet or use the restroom.
