Job Title : Business Development Consultant

Business Development Consultant

1. Purpose: To assist entrepreneurial-oriented people with disabilities achieve their small business development or home-based employment goals.

2. Reports To: Director of Program Services

3. Essential Functions:

•Develop, implement and evaluate home-based employment program.

•Develop, implement, evaluate and advocate for the small business development services program.

•Implement the goals and objectives of the ______grant.

•Provide support and direction for the utilization and growth of the micro-loan fund program.

•Provide information and referral services relating to small business development or home-based employment options.

•Guide the development and implementation of a CIL business plan which includes resource development, marketing and grant seeking activities.

•Participate on the Business and Employment Team with varying responsibilities as determined by the Team.

•Complete all reports including, but not limited to: timesheets, vacation, sick leave, compensation time, leave of absence requests, activity reports and grant applications by their respective due dates.

•Complete and maintain all Consumer Services Records in compliance with the Federal Quality Assurance Standards and Indicators.

•Travel required within the state. •Perform other duties as assigned.

4. Behavioral Requirements

•Demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative and follow through as required for the effective delivery of CIL services.

•Model team work by effectively working in a collaborative manner through strong individual contribution and commitment.

•Maintain a positive working relationship with consumers, co-workers, referral sources and others to encourage positive referral relationships.

•Actively participate in the delivery of services and/or the implementation of public relations, special events, marketing, and fundraising activities, as requested.

•Enhance the image of the CIL in person, by telephone and in written communication.

5. Qualifications

•Personal experience with disability and /or knowledge of disability issues and the consumer/community based IL philosophy.

•Excellent communication skills.

•Good computer and word processing skills.

•Organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively and use judgment and discretion in decision-making.

•Commitment to and ability for continuous improvement and mastery of the relevant body of knowledge related to this position.

•Bachelors Degree required. Three or more years personal experience in owning or operating a small business preferred.
