New Life Ranch Challenge Course Manager Ministry Description
Responsible to: Director of Outdoor Ministries
Responsible for: All aspects of programming for the Challenge Course Ministries.
Responsibilities: General: The Challenge Course Manager (CCM) is given the responsibility of the management and implementation of the Challenge Ministries of New Life Ranch. The CCM is to provide safe, well-planned, and effective events in keeping with NLR’s mission and over all objectives. The accomplishing of this objective is to be consistent with the principles of the Christian faith, the by-laws of New Life Ranch, and in a manner that will glorify Jesus Christ.
Specific: 1. Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants. 2. Ensure ACA & ACCT standards are maintained – ropes log, training log, etc. 3. Keep NLR’s ropes course certification current with site inspections. 4. Recruit, train, and supervise all staff and volunteers needed for events. 5. Support all NLR ministries by providing high quality ropes events. 6. Manage ropes course construction projects. 7. Oversee budget, care and maintenance of all equipment and elements used in challenge ministries. 8. Maintain proper risk management procedures in all phases of the ministries.
Education and experience: The NLR CCM should be a college graduate and/or have sufficient experience in camping and/or ministry experience as deemed necessary by the Director of Outdoor Ministries. Possesses or is willing to acquire the Challenge Course Manager Certification through ACCT. 3 years extensive challenge/ropes course facilitation experience, both high and low elements. 2-years experience supervising staff during programs; demonstrated experience with high element rescue techniques. Challenge course construction skills beneficial; several years climbing experience and comfort in diverse climbing situations required. Proficiency in administrative and clerical skills including verbal and written communications with clients and program staff. WFR is desirable and current American Red Cross CPR expected.
Benefits: This position is classified as a NLR Missionary Employee and raising partial personal support is expected. Housing allowance, insurance and retirement provided with partial salary and support.
