Text: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Go Math *Additional supplemental materials The Go Math textbook is available online. Each student will receive a username and password to access the book and supplemental materials from home.

Course Description: The sixth grade mathematics class is designed to help students learn to recognize and appreciate the vital role math plays in the world. In this course, students will learn to think mathematically and become better problem solvers. Students will continue to develop proficiency with the Common Core’s eight Standards for Mathematical Practice. Go Math is designed to fully address the Kentucky Core Academic Standards. Concepts within each grade are organized in units that align to major domains and provide focus on key big ideas. Within each unit, concepts are organized into modules that align to clusters and build connections among the individual standards.

The units of study are as follows:

 Ratios and Proportionality  The Number System  Expressions and Equations  Geometry  Statistics and Probability

Grading Scale (JCPS) A 90% - 100% Above Standards B 80% - 89% Meets Standards C 75% - 79% Approaching Standards D 70% - 74% Below Standards U Below 70% Substantially Below Standards

Conduct Good discipline is essential in order to provide all students with a quality learning environment. Conduct grades represent the extent to which the student does the following: shows self-control and self-discipline, respects the rights and feelings of others, accepts responsibility for actions, and cooperates in group activities.
