POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel (under the day-to-day supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel), you will be responsible for providing legal support on a broad range of issues across the organisation, with a focus on the retail business and on workplace relations issues.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Provide high quality and timely legal advice and other support to ActewAGL Human Resources and Retail divisions, including advising on discipliniary matters, workplace relations legislation, competition and consumer laws, utilities legislation, and commercial law generally, and interpreting a range of operational and transactional contracts including product sales arrangements, employment contracts, enterprise agreements and foundation agreements that underpin the business.  Prepare product sales agreements, employment contracts and other legal documents

 Provide a broad range of other legal support services to other areas of ActewAGL as needed  Represent ActewAGL in commercial negotiations and, as needed, before relevant tribunals and courts  Liaise with external legal service providers as required  Provide in-house legal training to non-legal staff  Other duties within the employee's skill, competence and training

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

 Bachelor degree, or higher, in law from a common law jurisdiction  Currently holds, or is eligible to hold, a practising certificate in the ACT  Around 5 years’ legal experience in a commercial environment in either a reputable law firm, or in-house
